Veneers

A veneer is porcelain facing that is placed on the front of your tooth,
it is just like a false nail.

A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain made to fit over the front surface of a tooth.  Veneers can improve the colour, shape and position of your teeth.  A precise shade of porcelain can be chosen by your dentist to improve a single discoloured tooth or to lighten your front teeth.  Veneers can be used to create a stunning smile by adding a uniform shape, colour and symmetry to your teeth.

Facts about veneers:

  • Because veneers are very thin and are held onto your natural tooth by a very strong adhesive there is little preparation needed on your own tooth.  This means you may not need a temporary veneer between appointments.
  • Veneers can be made from porcelain or composite material – ask your dentist which material would be best for you.
  • Not only can veneers improve the colour of your teeth but they can be used to fix worn, uneven teeth or unusually spaced teeth with large gaps.
  • Veneers are stain resistant so will not change colour over time
  • Depending on how well you look after them – veneers can last 10 years or more without needing to be replaced.
